Even if it has been a mild winter across Monmouth Junction, Freehold and East Windsor this year, you probably aren't spending lots of time, or even thinking about getting on a bicycle. Nissan has, and is upping its commitment to the sport of cycling, personal fitness, and to the environment, teaming up to co-sponsor the tour-winning squad RadioShack Nissan Trek.
During their nine-month season around the globe, Nissan will offer a wide range of support to 30 professional riders, from vehicles, to bicycles and jerseys displaying the Nissan logo. The automaker also plans to increase its visibility at many world-renowned cycling events, including the grand stage of the Tour de France.
Brian Carolin, Senior VP, Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America, points out that the sport's growing popularity in terms of participants and spectators has convinced Nissan that involvement in cycling is a smart, responsible idea, encouraging America to look after their personal wellness while lowering carbon emission.
"I think we can leverage some of the innovations that are happening in the sport. At the end of the day, Nissan is all about innovation. There is a very good fit with the Nissan brand," Carolin says. 1
RadioShack Nissan Trek has enjoyed a good start to the 2012 campaign, kicking off the season in Australia this past January, finishing first in team classification. The result should come as no surprise, as RadioShack Nissan boasts a star-studded cast of some of the best cyclists in the world, including Tour of California winner Chris Horner and Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland.
Be sure to stay up to date with RadioShack Nissan Trek, and cheer them on with Acme Nissan! And, why not take advantage of this favorable weather and pedal over to our showroom at 2050 US Highway 130 Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852 to check out the latest in emission-free transport, the Nissan LEAF, or any of our new Nissan models, like the 2012 Nissan Murano Cabrio or the 2012 Nissan Quest?
